Description

In the course, participants will learn in detail how to operate Windows Server 2016 Directory Services (AD DS), manage Group Policy, implement advanced Active Directory services, and implement cloud-based directory support and integration.

  • Active Directory Services (AD DS) and AD DS Domain Controller overview; design, install and configure a domain controller installation; administer AD DS.
  • Managing AD DS objects: managing user accounts; managing groups; managing privileges; managing computer objects; using Windows PowerShell commands for AD DS administration; organizational unit (OU) concepts and management.
  • Advanced AD DS infrastructure management: overview of multi-domain environments, overview of AD topologies, deploying and configuring child domains, managing forests, configuring trust relationships.
  • Implementing and administering AD DS sites: overview of AD DS replication; configuring AD DS sites, setting up subnets; setting up and testing AD DS replication.
  • Implementing Group Policy: overview, Group Policy design considerations, creating and configuring Group Policy Objects (GPOs), managing Group Policy scopes, verifying Group Policy operation, managing GPOs.
  • Configuring user environments with GPOs: GPO-based software deployment, concept and use of administrative templates, configuring GPO preferences, configuring folder redirection, managing software with GPSI.
  • Implementing AD DS security: designing domain controller security; security settings for user accounts, administrative groups, password policy management, implementing security policies; installing and configuring read-only domain controllers (RODCs); security auditing settings; creating and configuring managed service accounts (MSAs).
  • Configuring and using Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS): overview of PKI; installing and configuring Certificate Authority (CA); using authentication certificates and templates; publishing and revoking certificates; restoring certificates; managing smart cards; CA service maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Configuring and using Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS): overview, installing and configuring AD FS, implementing AD FS in standalone organization and Federated Business Partners environment, configuring Single Sign-On for online services.
  • Configuring and using Active Directory Rights Management (AD RMS): overview, installing and configuring AD RMS infrastructure, using AD RMS templates, configuring AD RMS content protection, setting up external access to AD RMS, configuring AD RMS on clients.
  • AD DS synchronization with Microsoft Azure AD: overview, operation; design and implement directory synchronization using Azure AD Connect; manage users and groups.
  • AD DS administration, management and restore: using administration tools; managing Active Directory database; Active Directory backup and restore options, restoring objects in AD DS; other identification and access solutions.

Prerequisites

Windows 8 or higher, Windows Server 2016 technology skills, networking skills. Completion or knowledge of courses WS16-20740 and WS16-20741. As the course materials are in English, basic English language skills at document reading level are required. The lectures will be held in Hungarian.
