JUN-03
New Configuring switches in a Juniper environment
Description
The aim of the course is to provide participants with a comprehensive introduction to switching technology, and the deployment and configuration of networks based on switch-based devices in medium and large enterprise environments, using Juniper tools and solutions. The course is 50% practical and 50% theoretical.
The course will also help you to achieve the Juniper Networks Certified Specialist (JNCIS-ENT) qualification at the professional level.
Suggested For
The course is recommended for professionals, network operators, system administrators with previous Juniper (Junos) networking knowledge, who will be responsible for the future implementation and operation of Juniper switch-based systems and who wish to acquire the necessary operational and technological knowledge.
Outline
- Introduction to Layer 2 swicthing technology: ethernet bridging basics, terminology and design considerations, overview of the enterprise swicthing platform, enabling and monitoring Layer 2 switching, initial setup (EZSetup).
- Virtual network management: overview of VLAN, creating and configuring VLAN networks, configuring and deploying Network Director VLAN and port profiles, overview of VLAN types (Voice VLAN, Native VLAN, RoutedVLAN).
- Spanning tree implementation: basic concepts, overview of Spanning Tree and Rapid Spanning Tree protocols, configuring, verifying, troubleshooting STP and RSTP; overview and analysis of protection solutions (BPDU, Loop, Root).
