Description

The aim of the workshop is to familiarize the participating team with the Scrum framework in practice, through a simulated situation.

The simulation task is designed to be fully interactive, maintaining attention and participation at all times. The Scrum Team members are formed by the participants, who are given guidance on how to carry out the different responsibilities.

During the simulation, the participants perform a complex collaborative task, such as designing a city building and then executing and delivering the construction. Each of the phases will help to understand the role of the phases of agile project management, for example:

  • Why is task estimation important?
  • Where are the pitfalls when implementing definition of done?
  • How should the team react to changing needs?
  • Where should and shouldn't you set limits to the intervention in sprints?

Outline

The exercise provides an opportunity to experience and deal with the most common "unexpected" events, and to test attempts to discuss and avoid typical pitfalls in a safe environment.

During the training, participants will gain practical experience:

  • How to solve complex problems.
  • How to work together as a team to create value?
  • Why is it important to implement all the elements of the Scrum framework and what do you lose if you miss something?
  • The roles and decision-making positions of the different responsibilities.
  • The purpose of Scrum events.
  • Resolving unexpected events and problems guided by agility and Scrum values.

Can be delivered online or in classroom format. It is recommended to choose the version that suits the team and the organisation.
