Managing large enterprise environments with System Center Configuration Manager

The course is designed for IT professionals (administrators, operators, enterprise desktop support engineers) with previous Windows 10 and Windows Server experience and knowledge working in a primarily enterprise environment who want to learn how to use System Center Configuration Manager to support various enterprise network resource management and software management tasks (software and application installation and configuration, software inventory management, endpoint protection, maintenance/software upgrade support).
Outline
The course covers the topics covered in Microsoft 20703-1 Administering System Center Configuration Manager.
- Managing computers and mobile devices in an enterprise environment: overview of enterprise systems management solutions; overview of Configuration Manager, architecture, features, capabilities; the rest of the System Center family and how it works with SCCM.
- Overview and basic use of administrative tools; introduction to Configuration Manager site monitoring and troubleshooting tools; use of Powershell; managing components using Configuration Manager Service Manager.
- Overview, creation and use of data queries and reports. Using basic SQL queries; overview and use of SQL Reporting Services and Report Builder for reporting.
- Preparing infrastructure: discovering and organizing resources; overview and configuration of Resource Discovery, concept and configuration of boundaries and boundary groups, managing user and device collections, implementing role-based security; implementing Exchange Server connector.
- Configuration Manager client management: overview, client deployment using Client Push and Group Policy, setting up client agents, monitoring and configuring client health.
- Hardware and software inventory management: inventory concept and structure; hardware and software inventory configuration and management; software usage measurement and management; Asset Intelligence concept, configuration and management, Asset Intelligence reports.
- Managing software deployment using packages and programs: preparing and managing software deployment, creating deployment points, creating and configuring collections, creating and configuring packages and programs, monitoring and debugging software deployment.
- Application creation, deployment and management: overview of tools and application model, configure application catalog, create and publish application (Software Center); configure deployment requirements and dependencies; configure application deployment, replacement and removal options; overview and configuration of multi-installer model; overview and preparation of infrastructures supporting application virtualization (App-V); deployment and management of virtualization packages.
- Deploying and managing software updates: overview, preparing sites (Software Update Point), managing client-side software updates, configuring automatic deployment, troubleshooting.
- Endpoint protection: introduction to System Center Endpoint Protection, installing and configuring EP, configuring and deploying client settings with Endpoint Protection policies, monitoring endpoint protection.
- Managing compliance and data access protection: review compliance settings; configure compliance settings; test compliance results; manage data access and resources.
- Operating system deployment support: overview, tasks, OS deployment steps; creating and managing reference images, saving and managing user data, OS deployment; managing deployment support packages; managing Windows as a Service.
- Configuration Manager site management and maintenance: configuring role-based administration; configuring and using remote access management tools and solutions (Configuration Manager Wake On LAN, Out of Band Management, Power Management, Remote Control); site maintenance tasks and tools.
Prerequisites
Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016 (or Windows Server 2012) operator skills and experience. As the course materials are in English, a basic level of English at document reading level is required. The presentation will be in Hungarian.
