Keep up with the latest technologies - choose the qualification that suits your role!

We previously wrote about the transformation of the Microsoft certification system, according to which, starting in February 2021, it will be possible to obtain only role-based certifications instead of the previous MCSA/MCSE/MCSD certifications. Would you also like to start moving towards role-based certifications? We present the options you can choose from.

What is a role-based rating system?

Microsoft announced more than a year and a half ago that it would shift its focus from its previous product-focused course and certification structure to existing roles. This is how the Azure (and Data&AI) certification paths were first created, and since then new certifications have been appearing in several cloud areas, including Modern Workplace , which encompasses Microsoft 365 technology , and Business Applications (Dynamics) .

It is no wonder that the need for a conceptual change first emerged in the case of cloud technology, as this is one of the most dynamically developing areas in the IT industry today, where it is not enough to focus on a single product, but rather complex skills are needed to fulfill a specific task. Nowadays, it is difficult to refer to IT roles comprehensively anyway, in many cases it is not possible to say that someone is an administrator or a developer in general, these career paths are present in the modern IT world in a focused manner, divided into subcategories or even more specialized areas.

Moreover, in the case of cloud platforms, new features appear at a very fast pace, and it is not easy to keep up with this pace. The qualification of the role-based model is also intended to demonstrate that its owner is familiar with the latest technological requirements and has up-to-date expertise in the field of the given technology.

Microsoft wants to implement the role-based concept in all areas from 2021, so future content will be integrated into the role-based certification system, thus offering new paths for those interested. Previous courses (e.g. Windows Server 2012/2016, SQL Server 2012/2016, etc.) will still be available, but you can no longer take exams and earn certifications from them.

Microsoft's role-based certifications are designed to target a variety of IT roles, from basic to expert level.

Depending on the employees' prior qualifications and the job they will be required to perform, interested parties can choose from a number of routes.

In summary, with this certification system, Microsoft offers a more transparent certification structure and career-focused expertise that can be immediately applied in real life.

How can we help with the acquisition of role-based knowledge?

It is true for all technologies – and the newest ones in particular – that their introduction is worthless without training. In collaboration with Microsoft, we have launched and trained nearly 300 people in various Azure paths in the past year, but in addition to our broad Azure portfolio, we can also offer diverse solutions in the Modern Workplace category.

We are aware that everyone likes to learn in different ways: some people like to study at home, at their own pace, independently, and others prefer a classroom environment, personal contact, or the opportunity to ask questions immediately. Having assessed these needs, we have created different methods and options so that everyone can decide for themselves where, when, and in what form they would like to further their education.
